The inspiration and concept for Thirakul Designs are derived from the era of timeless, simple style and elegance of the early 1960s. This first collection is a reflection of classic dresses worn by the most revered fashion icons of all time: Jackie O.

While these dresses are simplistic in their designs, each piece is exquisitely handcrafted, has meticulously hand sewn linings and hems and is made from the highest quality wools, silks and linens as well as contemporary fabrics such as ponte and performance rayon.

Nina Thirakul has a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Fashion Design from Marymount University, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from Marymount University’s School of Business.  
She completed her internship in London with fashion designer Arabella Pollen.  Her internship focused on manufacturing and sales through wholesale distribution to the American, Japanese and German markets.  

Upon completing her college degree, Nina worked for the prestigious House of Chanel for the next ten years. Her role as Chanel’s brand ambassador, and assistant buyer provided her with an in-depth knowledge of the luxury market segment, its manufacturing, production and pricing strategies, buying cycles, and most importantly, establishing and maintaining superb customer relations.

After her tenure with Chanel, Nina pursued a career in academia, and became a professor of fashion design, merchandising, fashion marketing and management for over 14 years. Inspired by her students, her many years of retail experience as well as her many years as an educator and the ever changing industry that is all things—fashion, she decided to create her own fashion label and become an entrepreneur, like many of her students!

Thirakul Designs developed as a unique collection of vintage-inspired dresses and separates that focused specifically on the styles of the early 1960s. Such styles reflect the simplicity of designs and true timeless elegance. Each piece is made to the highest quality of craftsmanship, with hand-stitched linings and hems and the best natural fabrications.

The pace of change and frequency of trends in today’s markets come at a dizzy speed. Thus, we spend more time shopping and more money buying clothing that is more and more cheaply made.
